Today’s Holy Spirit Love Note:
I have so much to share. You ask me if I’d like to share my heart with you. The answer is always going to be a great big, resounding “yes!” As a good parent, if your child asked you if you’d like to spend time with them, what would your answer be? Exactly! So why do you suppose my answer would be negative?
Do you think I might be too busy? Will I one day run out of things to share with you? That’s never going to happen! We will need all of eternity to explore the depths of my heart for you. That’s why we’re starting now instead of waiting until the age to come.
The only reason it might sometimes seem that I have nothing to say is because you believe the lie that your heart has to be in the right place before you can hear me. What can separate you from me? What can separate you from my love? Where can you travel to be outside of my reach?
Nothing, nothing and nowhere! Why is it sometimes hard then for you to hear me? Because you don’t expect to. You think things need to line up in a certain way, engage in specific rituals. I’ll talk with you when you’re on the toilet just as easily as I will when you’re in church! I’m not a prude and you don’t need to protect my sensibilities!
Just talk to me. Talk to me and with me. Your shopping list prayers are a better start than no start at all but there is so much more I have for you. I really do want to chat with you like you talk to your best friend.
Conversation, back and forth hearing each other. That’s my heart’s desire, the piece I crave above all others. It’s what you were created for and it’s much less complicated than you think. Be still and know that I am God. Ask me to open all your senses and expect me to do so. I want to do life with you.
